An introduction to various test and measurement equipment

In order to measure electrical properties, manufacturing processes, and particle analysis of materials, research lab equipment is used. Here at RAAH International, we offer several categories to meet your work space’s test and measurement equipment requirements.

Application of Test and Measurement Equipment

Tools that are used in the electronic industry include voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, capacitance meters, EMF meters (to measure electronic and magnetic fields), signal generators, pattern generators, and oscilloscopes.

Particle analysis testing includes particle counting, size analyzers, shape analyzers, surface energy analyzers, and zeta potential analyzers.

A variety of testers exist for various product characteristics to help evaluate the quality of a product. This includes compression, friction, hardness, impact, torsion, fatigue, and many more!

Basic Types of Test and Measure Equipment

To ensure perfect working, products go through various levels of testing. The instruments used to test the devices are known as test and measurement equipment.

There are a variety of test and measurement instruments that ensure the safety and quality of your laptop, phone, and many other devices. They accomplish this by ensuring perfect coverage, covering all areas of potential performance concerns.

This equipment measures the performance of a device by sending and reading signals to measure the ability of a device to perform under different settings. The generated data helps us find any errors or faults in the device and fix them. Variations in these factors are dependent on factors like voltage, current, data transmission rates, and power. Test and measurement equipment is categorized into three categories

  • 1. Instruments used for measuring basic system parameters like voltage, current, and resistance
  • 2. Instruments used for testing stimulus signals
  • 3. Instruments that measure the response to these signals

Voltmeters measure voltage, Ohmmeters measure resistance, Ammeters measure current, and multimeters perform multiple functions. There are both analog and digital versions of each meter. While analog meters have a pointer that moves through a scale, digital voltmeters return the value of voltage in numeric form, which is more accurate and easier to read.

Why do you need to use precise test and measurement equipment

Electrical devices used to test stimulus signals include power supplies, signal generators, and pulse generators. A power supply is necessary for providing a constant electric flow, the signal generator provides electrical signals for analysis, and the pulse generator generates a rectangular pulse.

Devices like oscilloscopes measure the system response to various electric signals and produce graphs that represent duration. They are used by engineers to gain insight into the frequency, amplitude, time interval, and rise time of these signals.

More advanced and sophisticated types of testing equipment are also available in the market. Semiconductor curve tracer measure semiconductor devices characteristics, while EMF meter measures electric and magnetic fields on a given site.
